Substack's slowly-revealed-as-you-scroll email nag modal is both the most horrible UX designed in the last 5 years and also the best example of Conway's law. This modal thinks it is better than the immediate-takeover modals, but like the entire platform, it is worse.

1.5 weeks back on MacOS I'm finding that most of the apps I want are not in the App Store. Notion, Discord, Arc, VS Code, even Zoom...and searching for some will surface confusing lookalikes exploiting the fact the thing you're actually looking for is not there. It appears Apple has foot-gunned themselves with their App Store policies/rake. Contrast with Flatpack and eg Cosmic Store, where I can reliably find most apps and then manage/update them all in one place.
