Putting aside the drivers-increasingly-can't-see-or-hear-cyclists-or-pedestrians issue, I mostly experience headphoned pedestrians on mixed-use trails that clearly have noise cancelling on. I have the loudest bike bell on the market. I've often come up on a pedestrian, rung my bell multiple times including once almost stopped behind them (because oncoming traffic and the pedestrian's position in the lane prevents passing), and they do. not. hear. it.

I have no idea how those two photographs are still there. I must have resurrected them and re-added them at some point in the last ~5 years.

I really enjoyed Cory Doctorow's The Bezzle on audiobook (read by Will Wheaton), so I went "back" to the 1st book of the series, Red Team Blues. After 1 hour I am hopelessly lost. I was really into it for about 45 minutes, then 2 scene changes and a couple of new characters and it felt like I understood nothing of the premise or plot. I might try ebook instead.
