I just finished Carmageddon. It's mostly how/why things are terrible (things I already knew, if in less detail), not much hope, and extremely short on practical advice. And of course, the city I find myself in (I moved here temporarily and got stuck for 20 years), Dallas, is frequently used as an example of the most terrible.
I'm currently listening to Carmageddon (by Daniel Knowles), on loan from the Dallas library via Libby. In attempting to buy an epub copy -- desired so I can read and highlight it in Readwise Reader, which will sync with my notetaking app -- I discovered I could not purchase a DRM-free ebook copy anywhere. The publisher does not even offer an ebook for purchase. This finally led to the rather easy discovery of a pirated copy. DRM creates piracy.
